Here’s a thing to do, playing videogames:
1) Find a rocky promontory, preferably overlooking the sea.
2) Stand on it.
3) Yell “Goth pose!”, and annoy everyone in your vicinity.
I don’t know, man. It feels good.

GOTH POSE!
See? Wasn’t that fun? Maybe you had to be there. It’s just, I’ve been playing some Dragon Quest lately, and it’s full of goth spots. I found myself missing the old days, having friends to annoy. I “Goth pose!”d myself, but it wasn’t as fun. I was expecting it. I didn’t jump. I didn’t cuss myself out, like “He’s not even goth! Would you quit your damn posing? Jesus fuck.”
Shadow of the Colossus was the best for goth poses. Most games, you can pose, but you can’t throw yourself over. In Shadow of the Colossus, you totally can, and on horseback to boot. I used to do it quite often, just to feel the rush of vertigo. I’d sit close to the screen so the falling felt real, and plunge to my doom till my head spun. Good times.

KATAMARI GOTH POSE!
Too far?
Oh, I’m sorry. I’ve not had time for games in so long, and Dragon Quest‘s the most nostalgic of them all, its formula unchanged since the NES era. In fact, I can’t remember for sure—it might’ve been Final Fantasy—but I think I did my first goth pose in the original Dragon Warrior. It wasn’t quite so dramatic in those days. You had to imagine the drop, and the vista below, but you could still stand on the world’s edge and piss off all your friends.
Anyway, that’s it for today. This nerdout has been brought to you by Square Enix, Namco Bandai, and my soft heart.
